With the outdoor economy booming all over Western North Carolina, Tsuga was poised to grow and expand. The 9-year-old outdoor-focused design, manufacturing, and merchandising company based in Boone, NC, outgrew its long-standing production space last year and needed working capital for expansion into a larger facility.
With help from Mountain BizWorks and the Growing Outdoors Partnership, Tsuga obtained a loan enabling them to hire several new employees, expand its existing military subcontracts, and increase the development of Tsuga proprietary brand products. In addition to securing this funding through Mountain BizWorks, Tsuga was also a member of our sixth ScaleUp WNC cohort – the first based in Boone.
ScaleUp WNC provides intensive growth strategy development and implementation assistance to two cohorts of 15 small businesses annually. Western North Carolina businesses with strong potential for growth and job creation have the opportunity to apply to participate in this highly competitive program.
Through targeted training and expanded access to capital, Mountain BizWorks provides comprehensive assistance to entrepreneurs and small businesses across rural Western North Carolina, just like Tsuga.
